What is Gematria?
Gematria is where you breakdown numbers in relation to Hebrew letters.
It is very complex and a difficult skill to learn in Judaism.
As alluded to in the introduction, the Hebrew language is so complex and holds so many deep meanings to every word.
We see in The Torah that certain words used have a gematria that corresponds to other words and helps solves different riddles and debates.

What is Gematria Used For?
Gematria is used for de-coding the mystical aspects of Torah.
The Torah can never be fully understood by anyone, except G-d
Every letter of every word used is special and powerful.
This is where there are many instances in The Torah where when you analyse the Gematria of certain letters in certain words, it leads you to find out some very interesting things.
As explained in our Jewish Names article: "The Arizal teaches that when parents name their child, they get a glimpse of Prophecy, and the name is whispered in their ear. Our name is the essence of our soul"
Therefore, everything that Jews read in The Torah and see day to day has a deeper meaning.
Nothing happens by coincidence. Everything is perfectly Created by G-d

Gematria can be compared to coding a computer. To someone who has never seen a line of code before, they would have no idea what the computer is showing. But to someone who understands computer code, they can look at a line of code and know exactly what the result of that code will be.
